- Many local education agencies also have their own resources. Here are a few examples (results of Google searches for “functional behavioral assessment” on the agency’s Web site): Philadelphia (based on a Google search of the Philly site).
Resources from organizations and individuals:
- National Technical Assistance Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) has a page with links that discusses functional behavioral assessment in another guise.
- Kentucky Council for Children with Behavior Disorders provided resources. There are multiple PDFs (gives results of a search of the site for “fba”) devoted to functional behavioral assessment
- J. Miller of Duquesne University provides an extensive introduction to functional behavioral assessment. This is a long-standing and valuable resource for information about FBA; it provides forms, slide shows, and links to articles.
- From Forest City Behavior & Development, one can get a 35-min Quicktime video of a slide-show presentation by Erin Wade on functional behavioral assessment. Entitled, “Functional Assessment or How to Get Your Behavior Programs to Work,” the presentation provides a basic overview of FBA. Link.
- S. Steingart’s site, School Psychology Resources Online (once hosted from the Office of Psychological Services, Baltimore County Public Schools, Towson, MD, US), has a set of links
- For some of his classes, Harry Dangle of Georgia State University maintains a list of links about FBA from his Web pages. He may keep up with this topic better than I do, so check there.
- Writing for the National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities (NICHCY by the old acronym), Barbara Smith & Mary Kate GutiƩrrez have a set of resources about functional behavioral assessment.
- The Center for Effective Collaboration and Practice maintains pages on FBA. The Web work is a mixed bag, but there are still some worthwhile directions there.
- The Student Support Services group at the University of South Florida provides extensive and useful information in a technical report called Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavioral Intervention Plans
- The Tri-State Consortium on Positive Behavior Support (US states of WV, PA, and VA) provided a useful introduction to FBA.
- Many professional journals often include articles about functional behavioral assessment: The Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, The Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions.
- The Families and Advocates Partnership for Education (FAPE) has a older page about functional behavioral assessment.
In addition to these resources, there are also commercial firms offering materials related to functional behavioral assessment. Here are a few I’ve found.
